When I met with the fishers their yard was a blank slate with no landscaping. They wanted clean landscape beds on two sides of their house with plants that would be easy to maintain and give the landscape a pop of color. The circular patio that comes off the deck gives the Fishers extra space to entertain guests and enjoy a fire at the end if the day or on cold nights.
